TSC Blog Giveaway: Red and White Food & Beverage Festival

The Red and White Food & Beverage Festival will feature NC State Alumni who are chefs, involved with restaurants, farms, wineries, breweries and/or alcoholic beverage companies. The event will take place at  The State Club on Thursday November 1 from 6-10pm. The first person the answer the question below correctly will win one free ticket to the festival. (If you have already won tickets you are not eligible to play this round!!)

The State Club: NC State boasts a cylindrical building (a la Madison Square Garden), opened in 1961, that houses several academic departments. For which former chancellor is this building named? Please explain a brief history.

  1. Harrelson Hall is named after John William Harrelson. It was built in 1961 and was the first cylindrical classroom building ever constructed on a college campus. John Harrelson studied mechanical enginerring at NCSU and was the president of his senior class.
