The State Club: How many years was NC State known as the University of North Carolina at Raleigh? Who was responsible in helping to restore the universities office name?

The students & alumni protested through letters & demonstrations.
The name was then changed to North Carolina State of the University of North Carolina at Raleigh. After 2 more years of frustration over the crazy name, it was then changed to North Carolina State University at Raleigh.
(we seldom use the "at Raleigh" designation)
